Carol S. Rietsma

Board Secretary 

Carol taught graduate and undergraduate courses in the Biology department at SUNY New Paltz for over 40 years. She regularly conducted field studies at Mohonk Preserve with the students in her undergraduate ecology course under the auspices of an Institutional Agreement between the Mohonk Preserve and SUNY New Paltz. Her first graduate student was Paul Huth, who later served as the Preserve’s Director of Research.

In addition to serving on the Preserve’s Board, Carol volunteers as a photographer, coordinator of phenology volunteers, and phenology observer. She is a Preserve Life Member and a member of the Legacy Society.

Carol has been on the Preserve’s Board since 1994. She chairs the Education Committee and is a member of the Conservation, Executive, Nominating & Governance, Land Management & Facilities and Volunteer Programs Committees.
