A Walk Back In Time
July 7 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Come along on an interpretive walk to the 19th century Van Leuven Cabin and learn what life was like in the Trapps Mountain Hamlet, once home to some sixty families. Hike leader and interpretive guide Richard Feuer will share the history of the land and its Original People, the Lenni-Lenape. This leisurely 3.5-hour round trip hike is sure to be entertaining and informative for everyone who loves the Shawangunk Ridge and is curious about the history of settlement in this hardscrabble environment. This program will include Split Rock and the Shongum Path leading back to the West Trapps which is a little more strenuous climb uphill. This is a free family program for children ages 8 to adult. Children must always be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited and registration is required.
