Protecting the Preserve Through Land Acquisition

As our region’s popularity continues to grow, so do development pressures. The need to save ecologically important and much loved places becomes urgent. Plans for mega-developments have threatened the ridge before and, as the economy improves, will do so again.

Rarely does an opportunity arise to protect an extraordinarily beautiful and strategic piece of property. However, this is the case with the upcoming multi-phase acquisition which will protect Kleinekill Farm, Brook Farm, Humpo Marsh and other historic lands that stretch from the ridge slopes below Duck Pond to the Testimonial Gateway. This is the magnificent sweep of land you see as you drive along Route 299 or Butterville Road and look up toward the Mohonk tower.
